KATHMANDU, Jan 4: CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli recorded his statement at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Saturday in connection with the September 8 and 9 Gen Z protests.
NHRC member Lily Thapa told Republica that Oli was questioned at the NHRC’s office for more than two and a half hours, primarily regarding his role as the executive head of government and chair of the National Security Council at the time of the protests.

“Former prime minister KP Sharma Oli was present at the commission today and gave his statement for two and a half hours,” Thapa said.
According to Thapa, the NHRC had prepared around 30 to 35 questions focusing on Oli’s responsibilities, duties and actions during the protests, all of which he addressed.
Earlier in the day, Oli also submitted a written statement to the high-level probe commission formed to investigate the Gen Z movement incidents. Members of the commission visited Oli’s residence in Gundu to collect his written testimony.
