KATHMANDU, Jan 4: A total of 33 leaders and cadres, including the Rupandehi district chairperson, have resigned en masse from the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) led by Ranjita Shrestha.
District Chairperson Tulsi Tharu said the resignations were submitted citing serious disagreements with decisions taken by the party leadership, its working style, and the overall process of organizational operation.
NUP to join Sudurpaschim govt
Those who resigned include district chairperson Tharu, senior district vice-chairperson Rakesh Koiri, central members Mahesh Giri, Tara Devi Chaudhary, Manju Dagoriya and Keshav Chaudhary, provincial member Madhav Chaudhary, district treasurer Ram Bahadur Tharu, women’s district chairperson Radha Chaudhary, among others.
Tharu said they decided to step down from all responsibilities and even relinquish their general membership after realizing that the party leadership was moving forward against the sentiments of party workers and the aspirations of the people.
He further said that after leaving NUP, the former party office-bearers along with the Tharuhat Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee will formally join the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) on Monday.
