Nepal, chasing 313 runs target, struggled till the last moment to put 155/7 before umpires declared the match as draw with eight overs to go.Thanks to Sharad Vesawkar (47) and Anil Kumar Mandal (44) who rescued the team with a vital 84 runs partnership.
Nepal had a disastrous started in its run chase losing opener Mahesh Chhetri (5) and Naresh Budhayer (5), but Anil and Sharad patiently built Nepali innings.
However, departure of Anil and Sharad by Haseeb Amjad in 33rd and 35th overs respectively put Nepal under pressure. The most destructive Hong Kong bowler Haseeb bagged four wickets.
Nepal's run chase was dealt with big blow after it lost crucial wickets of stand-in-skipper Gyanendra Malla (12) and tail-ender Mehboob Alam (20). Basant Regmi remained not out on 8 runs and Bikram Sob on one run as Nepal needed 158 runs more to win the match at stumps.
Earlier, Nepal declared its first innings as the play of the second day resumed with overnight score of 106/1. Anil was unbeaten on 56 runs and Sagar Pun on 38 runs respectively.
Nepal was set mammoth target after Hong Kong declared its second innings on 203/7. In the first day Hong Kong had declared its innings on 215/4.
Hong Kong faced big blow as soon as it started its second innings after Nepali bowler Bikram Sob bagged three wickets in the fourth over with only 13 runs on board.
However, Jamie Atkinson scored 80 runs and tail-ender Nizakat Khan remained not out on 58 runs to help Hong Kong declare the innings on 203/7 with 312 runs lead.
Basant claimed two wickets, while Karan KC and Irshad Ahmed bagged one wicket each.
Earlier, Babar Hyat remained not out on 68 runs, Nizakat scored 48 runs and Anshuman Rath contributed 42 runs to help Hong Kong declare its first innings on 215/4 on Thursday.
Basant bagged two wickets and Karan claimed one wicket of Hong Kong in first innings.
Now, Nepal will face a team of Pakistan on Sunday, meets Danube Cricket Club on November 11 and Oman on November 14 in 50-over matches before facing Papua New Guinea on November 16 and 18 in the second round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship.
