KATHMANDU, April 12: Nepal has improved its position in the latest FIFA or International Federation of Association Football rankings, climbing four positions to the 171st position.

According to the FIFA rankings released on Friday, Nepal has garnered 108 points to improve its position compared to the previous month.

Nepal´s win of 6-0 against Northern Mariyana Islands and a draw against Palestine in the recently concluded AFC Challenge Cup held in Kathmandu led to the positive change in the rankings, according to a statement released by the FIFA today. In the same tournament, Nepal had, however, lost to Bangladesh by 0-2.

In the monthly rankings, Afghanistan fares the best with 139th position among the SAARC member countries.

Spain, Germany and Argentina continue to stand in the first, second and third position respectively.
