“I request everyone not to doubt on the issue. Construction works will be completed well before the Sixth National Games kicks off on February 26,” said Lama.
NSC has been constructing a parapet, VVIP stand, athletics track and a ground in Dhangadi, one of the venues for the National Games. Member Secretary Lama said that rain and regional festival of Maghi hampered the construction work that had begun from mid-October.
Diwa Construction Service has been contracted to build the insfrastructure for the games. “Rain and festivities on the region hampered our work but we will complete it by mid-February,” said Uttam Basnet, a representative of the contractor company.
Raju Shrestha, an engineer with the NSC, also claimed that the construction of parapet, stand, athletics and ground, and maintenance of ground and covered hall would be completed in time.
Member Secretary Lama had asked engineers and contractors to brief the press about the work progress.
In a press conference organized here on Monday, Secretary at the Youth and Sports Ministry Shriram Pant said that government would provide all the necessary support to complete the National Games in time. “The entire construction should maintain quality and the government is ready to provide more financial support,” said Pant.
Deepak Saud, the coordinator of the Sixth National Games´ Secretariat in Dhangadhi, said that the contractor was asked to use additional labors if necessary.
The Sixth National Games is scheduled to be held in Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar and Tikapur from February 26 to March 4.
