National action plan for women's security in the offing

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The government is preparing a national action plan implementing it for assisting conflict-hit women.



The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction has established Nepal Peace Fund to implement the action plan. [break]



Ministry´s Under Secretary Dal Bahadur KC said Rs. 300 million has been deposited for the same, which was collected from the amount received from government and various donor agencies.



The action plan prepared to implement UN Proposal Nos. 1325, 1820 has raised five issues on women, said KC.



The action plan has specified Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Finance, Prime Minister´s Office and Peace Ministry as major bodies.



According to the ministry, some 13,000 Nepalese died in ten-year conflict and many have been compelled to live a disabled life.
