Gold price plunges Rs 6,800 per tola in a week

The price of gold in the domestic market decreased Rs 6,800 per tola (11.6638 grams) last week.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The price of gold in the domestic market decreased Rs 6,800 per tola (11.6638 grams) last week.



According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the market price of gold fell to Rs 262,500 from Rs 269,300 per tola when the market closed the previous week. The bullion market started the week with a decline of Rs 1,300 on Sunday.

On Monday, the price declined Rs 600 followed by a decline of Rs 7,900 on Tuesday. For the next two days, the price slumped Rs 1,100 and Rs 1,400, respectively. The price however inclined Rs 2,900 on Friday to close for the week.


According to the FENEGOSIDA, the gold price fluctuated in the international market due to uncertainty raised by soaring inflation, global economic situation due to the ongoing global geopolitical tension, central banks of a number of countries started diversifying their investment portfolios and declining strength of the US dollar during the review period.


Along with gold, the price of silver also hit the record high of Rs 4,895 per tola on Monday. Overall, the price decreased by Rs 40, from Rs 4,565 to Rs 4,525 per tola.
