KATHMANDU, Jan 2: CPN-UML leader Gokul Baskota has cautioned that a trend of revenge-driven politics, similar to developments seen in Pakistan and Bangladesh, is beginning to emerge in Nepal.
In a social media post, Baskota said politics in the country has increasingly become centered on power, weakening its ideological base and giving rise to such tendencies. He warned that growing political hostility could exceed limits and potentially turn violent.

“Signs are appearing that the kind of revenge politics seen in Pakistan, and more recently in Bangladesh, is starting to take shape in Nepal,” he wrote on Facebook.
According to him, this situation has resulted from excessive focus on power rather than principles. He also expressed hope that political hatred would not escalate to the point of pushing society toward violence.
