NA team leaves to study landslide in Kaligandaki

POKHARA, May 24: A technical team of Nepal Army (NA) has left for Ramche-8, Kafaldanda of Myadi district to study the situation caused by the blockage of Kaligandaki river following landslide.

The NA said the team is the same that was deployed at Jure of Sindhupalchowk.


Chief of NA Western Brigade Tara Bahadur Karki informed the the team of NA and geologists have left Kathmandu for Myadi on a chopper, adding that an artificial lake as long as 1,200 meters has already been created.

As landslide has continued, alerts have been declared for places downstream for possible flash flood.



According to report from our Myadi correspondent  Hari Krishna Gautam, inmates at the district prison have been shifted to the building of District Development Committee fearing possible inundation.

People have deserted the district headquarters and left for higher altitude as it is at high risk of flooding.

The landslide has occurred eight kilometers from Beni on the way  to Mustang district.
