According to DSP Ramesh Kumar Khadka of District Police Office, Sarlahi, Sobhita Devi Yadav, 25, on Tuesday killed her five-year-old daughter Mandira Kumari and Priti Kumari, 2, in Haripurwa VDC-5.
Khadka informed Republica Online that "the three bodies were found dead in a room latched from inside, giving a clue that the mother must have killed herself after taking lives of her two daughters."
A preliminary investigation shows that a rope was cut into three pieces with the help of fire and hanged her two daughters before hanging herself when other family members were in a field reaping sugarcane.
Police have also recovered torn 500 (NRs) and 1000 (IRs) rupee notes in denomination from the incident site.
The incident had taken place on Tuesday afternoon.
DPO, Sarlahi has deployed an investigation team to probe the case.
