KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Chinese Ambassador Chen Song is returning to China after completing his tenure in Nepal.
Ahead of his departure, Ambassador Song remained active in political engagements and held farewell meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Sushila Karki, among others.

He expressed gratitude to the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people for the goodwill, friendship, and cooperation he received during his stay. Saying he would always remain Nepal’s “sincere friend,” Song also pledged to continue supporting strong Nepal–China relations.
Nepal–China ties witnessed several ups and downs during his tenure, marked by issues related to the Gen Z movement, the electric vehicle boom, diplomatic engagements, and infrastructure development.
Before leaving for Beijing, Ambassador Song had raised objections with the government after corruption cases were filed against Chinese companies involved in the Pokhara International Airport project.
Active on social media—particularly on X—he frequently interacted with Nepalis by replying to comments and engaging in online discussions.
