MCC thumps CAN XI

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: London-based visiting Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which is touring Nepal, beat CAN XI by 99 runs in a 40-over friendly match at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.

Posting 206 runs target, MCC restricted CAN on 106 runs in 24 overs as Rupesh Shrivastav top scored with 21 runs off 33 balls for the home team.Manjeet Shrestha (14 off 6) and Himanshu Dutta (12 off 30) were the other batsmen to score in double figures.

Alex Senneck and Steve Clark bagged three wickets each, while Liam Redrup claimed two and Greg Homes took a wicket for MCC to restrict CAN.

Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, MCC made 205 runs losing nine wickets in allotted overs with Ben Shepperson scoring 52 runs off 82 balls.

Similarly, Cott McKechnie remained not out on 39 off 19 and skipper Neil Dexter scored 25 runs. George Addir contributed 21 runs.

Manjeet and DipendraAiree bagged two wickets each, while Yagyaman Kumal, Rupesh, Sonu Tamang and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed a wicket each.
