Registration is being carried out at designated stalls set up near the main gate of Bhrikutimandap, with separate desks arranged for delegates from all seven provinces. Delegates are required to present an identity document, submit one passport-size photograph, and pay a registration fee of Rs 1,000.
Earlier, on October 15, 54.58 percent of NC delegates had submitted signatures demanding a Special General Convention. As per Article 17 (2) of the party statute, a Special General Convention must be convened within three months if at least 40 percent of delegates make such a demand.
However, after the party establishment failed to convene the convention within the stipulated timeframe, the Special General Convention was called under the leadership of General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma.
The convention, which began today, will continue until tomorrow. The inaugural session is being chaired by Kathmandu District President Sabuj Krishna Baniya.
