Bhabilal BK, 58, killed his wife Santa Kumari, 48, smashing her head with a hammer before taking his own life, police said.
The BK couple had long been staying separately in their house as they used to quarrel continually.
They had two sons also separately staying with them.
Their elder son was away to visit his in-laws while the younger one had gone out to work when the incident happened.
After being alerted by the villagers, police reached the site the same evening.
Kaski police spokesperson Rabindra Paudel said their preliminary investigation showed that Bhabilal fatally attacked his wife calling her to his room and, after she died, he hid her blood-soaked body under the cot.
He then went to his wife’s room, locked himself from inside and killed himself hanging from the ceiling.
The couple had a turbulent family life as the husband was an alcoholic. In the past, they had several times visited the police office after quarreling.
Their bodies have been sent to Pokhara for autopsy.
Meanwhile, police have recovered the body of a 60-years-old woman Phulmaya Nepali in the Seti canal.
Citing eyewitnesses, police said the elderly woman drowned herself, jumping into the canal.
Earlier, Chandra Kant Paudel, a longtime newspaper vendor who was popularly known in the locality as Gorkhapatra Baje was also found dead in the canal. Police believe it was a suicide case.
