Major parties hold consultation on Madhesh issues

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Major political parties held consultations to resolve the issues of Madhesh in the Capital on Wednesday.

Nepali Congress (NC) officiating president, Ram Chandra Poudel said that the meeting held at the residence of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Lajimpat focused on resolving the demands of the agitating Unified Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).


The meeting was attended by Dahal, Poudel, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Bhim Rawal. Rawal is also Vice Chairman of ruling CPN-UML.

During the meeting, NC is said to have stressed on the need to address the demands of the UDMF even through the amendment of the constitution at the earliest.

Earlier, NC met UDMF leaders separately and viewed that the restrictions on the supplies should be eased soon.

Poudel said that it has been agreed upon during the meeting that NC would meet UDMF leaders separately on Thursday and that a meeting would be held comprising UCPN (Maoist) as well. RSS
