KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Four former prime ministers have stepped into the electoral fray for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is contesting from Jhapa Constituency-5.

Similarly, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is preparing to run from Rukum East Constituency-1, while the NCP’s Co-coordinator and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is set to contest from Rautahat Constituency-1.
Likewise, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, who serves as the patron of the Gatisheel Loktantrik Party, will contest from Gorkha Constituency-2.
In the 2079 BS general election, Oli was elected from Jhapa-5, Dahal from Gorkha-2, and Nepal from Rautahat-1. In that election, former Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai had supported NCP Coordinator Dahal.
Meanwhile, former Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who had been continuously elected from Dadeldhura since the 2048 BS election, is not contesting this time. He has stayed out of the race due to circumstances arising from the party’s special general convention.
For the HoR election scheduled for March 5, candidate nominations under the first-past-the-post electoral system are being registered today across all 165 constituencies nationwide.
