Hydro power project provides relief to quake victims

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Upper Trishuli-1 Hydro-electric Project (UT-1) has provided relief materials worth US$ 68,000 to the earthquake victims of Haku VDC of Rasuwa district. The VDC suffered massive damage in the magnitude 7.8 earthquake of April 25.



The hydro power project provided relief materials, including foodstuff, tarpaulin, blankets and utensils.

Over 800 displaced families of the Hakku VDC have been taking refuge in Laharepauwa and Dhunche VDCs of the district. The project has also decided to reconstruct two schools and a health post at the project site.


The 216 MW project is being developed by Korea South-east Power Co. (KOSEP), Daelim Industrial Co. (Daelim) and Kyeryong Construction Industrial Co. (Kyeryong), along with the local sponsor Nepal Water and Energy Development Company (NWEDC).
