"We are ready to join the election process if the major parties agree to reconsider the election date," CPN-Maoist leader Dev Gurung said emerging from the meeting held at HLPC´s secretariat in New Baneswor.
During the meeting, leaders of the major political parties said they were ready to be flexible in regard to reconsider the election date if the dissident parties join the election process. Earlier, Baidya-led CPN-Maoist had said that it would hold talks only with the president saying the government and HLPC do not have the political legitimacy.
The 33-party alliance was insisting on dissolution of the present chief justice-led technocratic government and formation of an election government led and participated by political parties, and deferral of the election scheduled for November 19. On the other, the major parties had already turned down these two demands.
