The youths organized the Help Nepal and Clothes Bank have proved their bigheartedness by running a campaign to distribute clothes to poor and Dalits in the rural areas of the district who are suffering from the cold wave for the last 15 days continuously. [break]
The youths have been collecting clothes as people in the rural and Dalit settlements started falling ill with the onset of the cold wave. We started it as people began to die from cold, said Bank Member Deependra Mahaseth.
Some 10 sacks of clothes have been collected so far from Kathmandu, Dharan, Birgunj and Janakpur, the Bank said.
We came to know there are many helping hands, if we have heart if not the wealth, said Mahaseth.
Altogether 21 people have died of freezing cold in the continuing cold wave in the district and patients of common cold and pneumonia have been coming non-stop, said the District Health Office Mahottari.
The Clothe Bank said it also aims to distribute clothes in poor and Dalit settlements in Dhanusha and Sarlahi districts as well.
