Health dept padlocked over staff transfer

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Activists from various trade unions have padlocked the Teku-based office of the Department of Health Services (DoHS) in protest of the recent transfer of health personnel, on Tuesday.



They padlocked the office after forcing Dr Mingmar Gyaljen Sherpa, director general at the DoHS, out of his office this morning. The health ministry on November 14 had transferred 597 health personnel. [break]



The agitators have demanded the transfer of the health personnel in a ‘fair’ manner and as per existing provisions. They also resorted to vandalism in the morning.



The agitating health trade unions include Nepal Health workers Union, Nepal Health Professional Association, Nepal Health Technician Association, All Nepal Progressive Health Workers Association, among others.
