Gurukul maintains winning streak

KATHMANDU, March 23: Gurukul maintained its winning streak in the seventh round defeating NASA 86-67 on Saturday in the First Kirtipur Cup Basketball Tournament being held in Naya Bazar, Kirtipur.



Sadish Pradhan and Robin Khatri netted 20 points each for Gurukul against NASA that is yet to register a win in the tournament. Gurukul remained unchanged in the top spot with 14 points while NASA has seven points. According to tournament regulation, the losing team gets one point. [break]



WhiteHouse and Goldengate emerged victorious in other matches of the day. WhiteHouse edged past host Naya Bazar Club 93-62 to avenge the defeat suffered in the first leg. With two wins and five defeats WhiteHouse has nine points, while Naya Bazar has 11 points with four wins and three defeats.



Rishi Robertson was the top scorer for WhiteHouse with 27 points. WhitHouse took all the four quarters 21-19, 19-13, 26-8, 27-22.



Goldengate crushed Nepal Army Club 93-74 riding on 28 points from Sujan Pun. Goldengate dominated the match and was ahead in all quarters. Goldengate led the first quarter 20-18 and took the other sets 21-13, 20-15, 32-26 respectively.



Goldengate lies in the second spot with 13 points. Goldengate has won six matches and lost one. Army has nine points in its kitty with two victories.



Altogether six teams are competing in the tournament being held under double round robin format. The top four teams at the end of the league will qualify for the semifinals.
