BIRATNAGR, Jan 27: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Kamal Thapa said the government has already made necessary preparations to hold long  overdue local elections.

Inaugurating a half-yearly progress review meeting of 16 districts and 52 municipalities of the eastern region, Minister Thapa said the government will fix the date for elections following consultation with the main opposition and other small parties.

"The government has already held consultations with the political parties for holding local elections. The date for local elections will be fixed follwing discussion with the main opposition and other fringe parties as the government and the ruling parties are already prepared," said Thapa.

With the constitution already promulgated, now our next agenda should be to bring an economic revolution in the country, said Thapa, calling for change in the political leadership and modus operandi of the governance.
