Prime Minister Oli split Ministry of Agricultural Development to form a new Ministry of Livestock Development and Ministry of Commerce and Supplies to create a separate Ministry of Supplies.
Shanta Manavi, who was given responsibility of the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction only on Thursday, was entrusted with the responsibility of Ministry of Livestock and the responsibility of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction was given to newly appointed Minster Ek Nath Dhakal. Manavi was a minister without portfolio until Wednesday.
Likewise, Minster for Labor and Employment Deepak Bohara of the Rastiya Prajatantra Party was given the responsibility of the newly created Ministry of Supplies.
On Thursday, in his bid to accommodate more fringe parties in his coalition government, Oli split various ministries. The Ministry of Health and Population was split to form the Ministry of Population and Environment. The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation was separated from the Ministry of Urban Development to form a new Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Administrative experts have stated that increasing the number of ministries and ministers will only add unnecessary burden on state coffers in the present crisis times.
