Organizing a press conference in the capital on Friday, the association's General Secretary Ramji Prasad Bajracharya said that all preparation for the two-day event was over.The event will feature 90 karatekas in total including 60 male and 30 female players. The players will be picked from all five development regions. The event will feature men's competitions in 50 kg, 60 kg and over 60 kg categories. There will be only open weight category in women's section.
The winner of each category will be awarded with Rs 10,000 while the runner-up and second runner-up will bag Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500.
Speaking at the program, the founder of the association Jagat Prasad Gauchan said that Nepal was doing well in the Asian level and they were aiming to do even better in the World Championship.
"We are able to leave a mark in the Asian level and now our eyes are fixed on World Championship," said Gauchan. "We have potential in the World Championship since it will also have competitions in age groups. Departmental teams are leaving their mark in almost all games in Nepal but this is the only game which is sustaining without the departmental teams."
