DANG, March 24: A fire that erupted at Sangrila Ply Industry in Khaira, Ghorahi sub-metropolis in the wee hours of Monday is yet to be doused.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Dang, the fire started at around 2:00 am on Sunday. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chakra Bahadur Shah at the DPO, who is actively coordinating the firefighting efforts on-site, informed Republica that since the area of the Ply Industry is more than 4 acres, security initially faced problems to locate and contain the fire.
He claimed that around 75 percent of the fire has been doused while the remaining 25 percent is yet to be brought under control as of 4:30 pm on Monday.
Damauli fire outbreak under control after five hours

According to Krishna Prasad Lamsal, the Chief District Officer of Dang, firefighters from Tulsipur sub-metropolis, Lamahi municipality, Bansgadhi municipality in Bardiya, Kohalpur municipality in Banke, Shivaraj municipality in Kapilvastu, and Rupandehi have arrived to assist in controlling the blaze.
The industry has a significant stock of raw materials, which is complicating the efforts to extinguish the fire, and it is expected to take more time to bring it under control. However, the risk to nearby settlements has now been averted.
According to DSP Shah, the police have neither deduced the cause of the accident nor estimated the financial loss caused by the fire accident. “Currently, we are focused on dousing the fire,” he told Republica, “We will investigate the cause of the fire accident after the fire is doused.”
The disaster is estimated to cause a significant loss and details are awaited. The Nepali Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and locals are working together to put out the fire, it is said.
