Cancer to affect around 30,000 more Nepalis in 2019


The number of cancer patients is on the rise in Nepal and an approximate 30,000 to 40,000 new cases are likely to be reported in 2019, according to data at the Nepal Cancer Relief Society. In 2018, of the 19,413 deaths due to cancer in Nepal, 11,258 were women. Data shows that Nepalis are more prone to lungs, breast, colorectal, prostate and stomach cancer.



NCP reiterates Co-chairman Dahal's stand on Venezuelan crisis


The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has reiterated party co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's stand on the ongoing Venezuelan crisis. A meeting of the NCP's party secretariat held at Dhumbarahi-based headquarters on Monday concluded that there should be not any foreign intervention on the ongoing political crisis in Venezuela.

Main opposition NC staging protests against govt across the country today


Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, is staging protests across the country against the government's recent decisions. Taking strong objection to the recently-endorsed National Medical Education Bill by force amid its protest in the parliament, the NC is launching protest against the government in various parts of the country including the capital. The NC has denounced the government move to endorse the Bill with force, undermining the voice of main opposition party in the parliament.


APF to set up posts in 21 places along border with China, India in Province-1


The Armed Police Force will set up its outposts in 21 different places of Province no 1 along the border with China and India. The border outposts are aimed to curb criminal activities along the border areas with China and India.  


Nepali cricket team comes home with its first trophy


The Nepali cricket team received a warm welcome as they returned home with its first trophy from the United Arab Emirates. Nepal had played three One Day International and three T20 games, both of which were won by 2-1.


European nations recognize Guaido as Venezuelan leader


Spain, France and Sweden have all announced that they are recognizing Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country’s interim president and are urging him to hold a new presidential election.
