Man killed in vehicle hit-and-run in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: A man was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Kathmandu on Friday.



According to the Police Headquarters, the incident occurred in Kathmandu Metropolitan City–16, where a vehicle bearing registration number Bagmati Province 01-002 Ja 7837 struck a pedestrian.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Jit Bahadur Kunwar of Salyan, who had been residing in the Nayabazar area of Kathmandu-26.


Police said Kunwar sustained serious injuries in the accident and died during treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj on Thursday night (Jan 17).


The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the incident. Police said a search is underway to locate and arrest the absconding driver.
