On her Facebook account, she mentions Swami Prapannacharya to explain her situation. "Swami learned alphabets at the age of 32. However, he still managed to earn a Ph D. If I work hard enough, I can definitely fulfill my desire to at least pass the SLC," she wrote.Shanta has enrolled in eighth grade at Shree Higher Secondary School of Dadagaun, Golgi VDC of Dang district. "Everyone at the school, including students, friends and teachers, were very supportive. I feel encouraged," she said.
Although she was born and raised in a family of Kamaiya, Shanta managed to break free of the bondage. Her consistent fight for justice and equality paid off when she became a lawmaker in the last CA. Also a cancer survivor, she has became a symbol of women empowerment.
She has written a book about her struggle "Kamlari Dekhi Sabhasad Samma" which was published on 2013. The book took her fame to new heights.
As she embarks on the journey to earn education, well-wishers have flooded her social media account with congratulatory remarks.
