During his meeting with Dahal at his official residence in Shital Niwas Sunday afternoon, President Yadav said that he was awaiting early consensus among the political parties to bail the country out of current political deadlock. [break]
The meeting between president and Dahal took place in the wake of Maoist leaders publicly accusing the president the president of trying to cross his constitutional boundary. “Do not believe the rumors outside. I won´t take any decision against the consensus of the parties," Dahal quoted the president as telling him.
Dahal said he assured the president that the parties would soon reach to consensus. He also told the president that the parties would continue negotiations in next four days to find a way out of the current political crisis, including on the issue of new budget.“ I have told the president that I and leaders of other parties will sit together to take a consensus decision," he said.
During the one-on- one meeting held for over an hour, President Yadav reiterated that country cannot afford political deadlock any further and also expressed his dissatisfaction over the delay in forging consensus.
The president also asked Dahal to bring a new budget through consensus with the political parties. "Since there is no clear provision related to budget in the interim constitution, the president stressed the need for bring the new budget through consensus between the political parties,” the president´s press advisor Rajendra Dahal quoted the president as saying.
Earlier, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai had assured that he would bring the new budget through consensus with all the political parties. “The president is hopeful that the new budget will be introduced through consensus with all the political parties,” said Chairman Dahal.
