KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The health condition of Dinesh Sitoula, a journalist-turned political cadre of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen), is deteriorating after he was seriously injured during an election campaign in Achham.
Sitoula, who is undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital in Tokha, is reported to be in critical condition. His close friends told Republica that he remains unconscious and is under observation on ventilator support. He suffered a brain haemorrhage after suddenly collapsing while getting out of a vehicle during breakfast at an election campaign led by Shah in Mangalsen—the district headquarters of Achham—on Friday.

RSP senior leader Balendra Shah cut short his Karnali Province tour and returned to Kathmandu from Surkhet on Saturday to check on Sitoula. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, Shah visited Sitoula’s family and went to the hospital but was unable to meet him.
Shah instead spoke with Sitoula’s brother, Umesh Sitoula, before heading to Ghantaghar in Banasthali. Shah urged the family to remain patient until 7 AM on Sunday, saying he had been informed that Sitoula’s condition was complicated.
Doctors at Grande Hospital have informed Sitoula’s close ones that his health condition will be assessed throughout Saturday. Sitoula is a former president of the Film Journalists’ Association.
