Superintendent of Police Yadav Raj Khanal, chief of Kaski police, said two pistols, bullets, binoculars, and drugs were also recovered from three places rented by Pun in Pokhara. Pun fled Kalika battalion in June, 2010, after being associated with APF for six years.
Preliminary police investigation has revealed that he was involved in several major organized thefts in Pokhara. Police suspect Pun was leading a major gang in the city.
Pun has admitted to the police of his involvement in the theft of 92 tolas of gold from a jewelry shop in Pokhara a few weeks ago, and the theft of 15 tolas of gold from a house near New Road Monday afternoon, according to a police source.
Six months ago, a sub machine gun went missing from AFP Training Academy at Lamapatan, Pokhara. The gun was recovered from Pun´s rented quarter located close to the academy.
The SMG that can fire 29 bullets at a time is an expensive and powerful weapon given only to APF and the Nepal Army.
“In my twenty years of career in the police force, such a powerful weapon was never recovered from a criminal,” SP Khanal said. The 9 MM A1A SMG has the registration number RR8875 SAF-1972, according to Khanal.
Three fake identity cards, fake insignias, and fake driving licenses have also been recovered from Pun´s rented quarters. The recovered cards identify Pun as APF assistant sub-inspector.
