The anti-graft body had opened the locker at Standard Chartered Bank, Lazimpat in the presence of police and lawmaker Lama himself but nothing suspicious was found in the locker.Meanwhile, the police investigators were unable to carry out polygraph (lie detecting) test on Lama after he denied to give consent to carry out the test, according to SP Pradhumna Kumar Karki, who is leading the investigation.
"During the preliminary investigation, Lama stated that the bullets were given to him by one of his old friends about five to seven years ago citing safety reasons," SP Karki said, adding. "We are trying to find the man he pointed out and relate the connection of the ammunition possessed by Lama."
On Monday, Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu had raided the house of Lama to check if any weapon was hidden inside the house. The controversial ex-minister Lama, who was barred from participating in any activities in the capacity of parliament member after the police filed a case against him under arms and ammunition act, was remanded to five days in custody.
CIAA has been investigating on disproportionate level of property allegedly owned by Lama. Earlier he had been denying his involvement in possessing those bullets and had blamed the government authorities for framing him.
