Cash discounts, offers galore on camera

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: If you plan to buy camera, this is the best time to execute your plan, as leading cameras dealers have offered discounts up to 14 percent and also announced various gifts to the buyers this festive season.



Primax International, the sole authorized distributor of Canon in Nepal, is also providing cash discount in the range of 10 to 14 percent to the buyers. [break]



As the price of Canon compact cameras range between Rs 15,000 to Rs 22,000 and SLR cameras cost Rs 50,990 to Rs 757,490, your decision to buy camera now can save you Rs 1,500 to Rs 106,000 depending on the models you buy, said Dinesh Agarwal, its marketing manager.



Its scheme will last till November 15 and through this period the company expects to sell around 60 units of cameras a day.



Likewise, Nepa Hima Trade Link, the sole authorized distributor of Sony cameras, has offered various gifts to its buyers under the scheme ´Celebrate Dashain and Tihar with Uphara Bahar´.



"Buyer on each purchase of Sony camera will get 8 GB memory card, carrying case and cupon to print 40 pieces photos for free. Apart from this, the customer can develop one enlarged picture of his or her choice," said Binil Bajracharya, general manager of Nepa Hima Trade Link.



The company that has more than 200 models has not offered any cash discount though. Sony´s compact digital camera are priced between Rs 12,000 to Rs 60,000, and SLR cameras are price tagged in a range Rs 65,000 to Rs 200,000.



"We believe our sale will grow more this year, because our offer this year is better than last year. The sales of camera will boost in festive hours because everybody love to catch their memorable movements," said Bajracharya. The company expects to do the business of Rs 60 million this festive season, which would be some 50 percent rise over what it recorded in the same season last year.



Under its ´Samsung Swadotsav´, Him Electronics - the sole authorized distributor of Samsung cameras - too has offered 4 GB memory card and 50 piece free photo printing cupon to its customers.



Samsung cameras available in three segment such as normal view, dual-view and smart cameras are priced in a range of Rs 8,690 to Rs 25,990. "This festive season, people have preferred middle range cameras that are price at Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000," said Binay Tripathi, deputy general manager of Him Electronics.



He disclosed that sales during Dashain make around 30 percent of its total annual cameras transactions. The company expects to sell around 8,000 units of Samsung cameras this season.
