Bhutan beats Nepal in golf tourney

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Bhutan won the Bhutan-Nepal Inter Club Friendship Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club Sunday. Out of 11 matches, Bhutan won seven and halved two to accumulate 16 points while Nepal won only two matches and halved two to accumulate six points.



The winning team of each match received two points and for the matches halved, each team got 1 point. All the matches were played on four-ball better ball format with full handicap.[break]



Meanwhile, Nepali golfer Tashi Tshering won the award for longest drive while another Nepali Wangchen Dhondup got closest to the pin award. Bhutanese golfer Topgay Dorji won a special prize for the eagle he scored on 12th hole.



The best winning pairs were TN Namdu and Tenzing Namda from Bhutan. They defeated Kesang Lama and Aasis Poudel 4/3.



The event was part of the Druk Air Open Golf Tournament, which would be an annual affair from coming years.
