Baniya, who was thought to be backed by NC General Secretary Prakash Man Singh and also Deuba faction of the party, defeated Bhimsen Das Pradhan by 90 votes in a tough competition. Baniya secured 653 votes out of 1252 cast, where as Pradhan got 563.
Similarly, Raj Kumar Nakarmi was elected as secretary and Govinda Pudasaini as treasurer of the district. Nakarmi secured 669 votes to defeat Arjun Parajuli and Pudasini got 649 votes to defeat Narvada Pokhrel in the election.
