Agriculture ministry harvests wheat at Tathali VDC

BHAKTAPUR, May 23: The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a harvesting campaign in the quake affected areas, reasoning the people were unable to harvest the ripe crops on time.

Officials at the Ministry harvested wheat at Sudoul of Tathali VDC-8 in the district today. Ministry Secretary Uttam Kumar Bhattarai launched the campaign by cutting wheat with a machine while other civil servants were clearing the debris at different areas on Saturday, the government holiday.


Secretary Bhattarai said they launched the campaign also to connect the farmers with the Ministry at such critical hour. Such campaign would continue in coming days as well, he added.

Over 200 officials under the Ministry are involved in harvesting campaign. Harvesting the wheat from eight ropani of land is the work today, it is learnt.

Local farmers are elated to this initiative of the Ministry.RSS
