KATHMANDU, Jan 6: An annual report of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for the fiscal year (FY) 2024/25 has been submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel. At a programme organised at Sheetal Niwas on Monday, Attorney General Sabita Bhandari submitted the annual report before President Paudel.
The report incorporated the activities carried out by the office and its subordinate bodies in the FY 2024/25.
Out of the total cases, writs and applications filed by the public prosecutors, 75,165 disputes were settled. Of them, 66.34 percent were settled in favour of the government.

OAG and its subordinate offices issued orders for mediation in 2,612 cases, involving 3,075 defendants. Similarly, decisions were made not to submit cases against 4,841 persons implicated in 4,527 cases.
Similarly, legal opinions were sought from the OAG and its subordinates on 52 issues in the past fiscal year, but the suggestions were provided only on 47 issues.
The number of cases, writs and applications in which OAG and the offices under this had defended or argued in the government's favour was 127,409. Likewise, the number of cases in which the government of Nepal was the defendant stood at 105,036, while the number of writs filed against the government was 16,514, and the number of other applications was 5,859. This is 3.90 percent less compared to the previous FY.
The Attorney General is obliged to present the annual report of the OAG before the Head of State every year as per Article 159 (1) of the Constitution.
