SALYAN, Nov 21: Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has termed the ongoing agitation waged in various districts in Tarai ‘meaningless’.
Arguing that all the issues would find an outlet only through the talks, leader Deuba urged the disgruntled Madhesi leaders to join the talks with the government to narrow down political differences on new constitution.
In an inaugural program of the second Salyani Youth Festival in Srinagar of Salyan on Saturday, Deuba appealed to them to leave behind their stance and sort out differences through dialogue.
“The agitation will trouble people and affect their daily lives adversely,” said the former Prime Minister, adding that the agitation could not attain success by vandalizing the medicine-laden and patience-ferrying vehicles.
As for the issue of delineation of deferral provinces, Deuba made it clear that the boundary could not be redrawn at the will of a party specific.
“The federal provinces were marked on the consensus of various parties. It could not be redrawn just like that. It takes the proper legal process.”
Stating that the promulgation of new constitution in Nepal should not be a headache for India, he said that the India’s economic embargo on Nepal should be lifted at the earliest. RSS
