LAHAN, June 17: The Inland Revenue Office in Lahan has initiated legal action against 22 tax payers, who have failed to pay their due tax for a long time.

Necessary procedures have begun to stop the sale of land as well as seizing of the bank accounts of those tax payers who are due to pay a large sum in taxes to the State, said Chief of the Office in Lahan Santa Bahadur Dhakal.

The Office has recently accelerated monitoring of the market as well as collection of due taxes since the past one month. As a result, the Office has already collected more than Rs. 30 million in dues from the tax payers. This was collected from 55 tax payers registered under VAT.

Likewise, another three million rupees was collected from seven brick kilns.

The Office has also been issuing warnings as well as penalty against those shopkeepers in the major town in Siraha, Udayapur and Saptari district, who do not issue receipts for the goods sold to customers, added Dhakal. RSS
