BANKE(Khajura), Dec 28: As many as 1,000 sets of tarpaulin sheets brought from India through Nepalgunj Check Point for the earthquake-hit persons have been stranded at the Nepalgunj Customs Office, Banke for five months.

Worst of all, the sheets have been kept under the open sky in the Customs Office premises which are in the likelihood of receiving damage due to the extreme weather conditions. The Organization, which imported the sheets two days after the deadline of the government-granted tax exemption for the relief materials as such sheets, has left them unattained at the Customs Office since then, according to the Nepalgunj Customs Office.

Also, to the dismay of quake-hit persons, nobody has taken any initiation to distribute this relief material to the quake victims in the locality who are grappling with winter woes, the Customs Office said. RSS
