Police's semifinal opponent was confirmed on Wednesday as APF beat Far-western on three straight sets to become Group B runner-up. Police is the Group A winner. APF, which won three matches out of four, collected nine points.
Similarly, Group B winner Tribhuvan Army Club's A team and Army's B team, the runner-up Group A, will meet in another semifinal on Thursday.
On Wednesday, APF, which had faced defeat against Army in league match, beat Far-western by 25-21, 25-8, 25-11 in the last group match. APF also defeated Central and Mid-western regions.
APF coach Sudesh Kumar Rimal said that his team will secure final berth if his players are able to have control over Police's Sanjay Aryal and Kul Bahadur Thapa.
"Police is one of the experienced sides having capable spikes and it is not easy to beat them but having control over Sanjay and Kul will be vital for us," said Rimal, who added that defeat against Army helped his side to improve for the upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, Police skipper Im Rana said that defeating APF will not be tough task for his side.
"Currently, no other teams except for the Army has good co-ordination among players. We have not been facing problem with co-ordination as most of our players were in the team for the 12th South Asian Games, however we don't have to worry about APF. Our target is to win the final," said Im, who is also the skipper of the national team.
Im also said that playing on the mat of Army covered hall is tough as the court has mat that is used for martial arts and added that other teams faced difficulty playing on the mat.
"The mat has been affecting team's movement," he said.
Meanwhile, Central recorded 25-10, 25-16, 25-21 win over Far-western but faced 12-25, 24-26, 12-25 defeat against Army's A team in another match.
