According to the area police office, the gang attacked Sahu with a lethal khukuri while he was on the way to his home from Nawalpurawa village. Severely injured Sahu breathed his last in course of treatment at Bheri Zonal Hospital.
Police have arrested four suspects on suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed in a road mishap on Itahari-Duhabi section of road in Sunsari on Monday.
Identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, according to the area police.
The pedestrian injured after being hit by a goods-loaded truck died in course of treatment, the police said. The accident was due to brake failure.
Police have arrested the driver.
