Dahal calls for revision of amendment bill

BIRATNAGAR, Dec 27: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) will agree to resolve the demarcation issue through political mechanism within three months if the current amendment bill is revised and a concrete proposal for provincial delineations is put forward.

Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport on Sunday, Dahal expressed hope that the issue of provincial demarcations in the Tarai will be resolved within three months through political mechanism."This issue will be discussed in the talks this evening," Dahal said. He was in Biratnagar to participate a function organized by students' organization affiliated to the UCPN (Maoist).

"The government should have expedited negotiations with UDMF but that has not been happening. However, we haven't yet decided to withdraw our support from the current government," he said.

Dahal further said that his party is not happy with the size of the cabinet. "We held serious discussions with the govenrment about the existing several problems and now we are optimistic that some important decissions will be made in favor of the people," he added.

Terming police action against Sadbhawana Party Chairperson Rajendra Mahato at Jogbani border a 'tragic incident', UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal said that he has already inquired about the incident with home minister.

In the function, Dahal termed Baburam Bhattarai's quitting of the party as a 'blunder' and proclaimed that he will make his party number one within a year.
