Eco-Vision has been distributing Reva in the Nepali market since 2007. From now two companies will be distributing the car in this market.
According to Bardan Basnet, general manager sales and marketing at Agni Incorporated, Reva cars are manufactured by India-based Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles on design created in California.[break]
Currently, only one variant of the small car, Reva-i Deluxe, is available in the market here. Agni Incorporated has also imported this model and it will be available in Nepal within two weeks.
“As people have become aware about environmental pollution and its impact and given the constant fuel shortages and increasing prices customers have become attracted towards electric vehicles, and we are hopeful Reva will increase our market share,” said Basnet. He added that electric cars are best for customers who have a scheduled travel plan from office to home.
According to the company, the advantage of the car over conventional fuel cars are easy operation, zero emission, low operating cost and zero road tax.
With its retro look, two doors and unique appearance, it has high visibility on the road. The hatchback is designed for efficient performance on Nepal´s roads.
The car has safety features like a dent-proof ABS body which keeps it safe from sudden jerks and minimizes the effect of accidents. Reva i has a dual breaking system and a steel space frame which further ensures a high measure of safety.
The car can accommodate two adults and two children and runs for about 80 km on a full charge, with a maximum speed of 70 kmph.
According to the company, customers do not have to worry about load shedding when recharging the vehicle as it takes just 2.5 hours to charge 80 percent of the battery. It takes eight hours to charge it fully. The battery of the fully automated car without clutch or gears lasts more than three years.
“Though customers have to invest a much higher initial cost, the operating cost is cheaper than for a motorcycle,” said Basnet.
The company has targeted corporate houses and professionals who need to travel less and cover routine distances.
Currently more than 70 Reva cars are to be seen on the roads of Kathmandu and Eco-Vision is selling it at Rs 1.49 million. Agni Incorporated has not yet fixed its price for the car.
