Rape-accused commits suicide in police custody

LALITPUR, July 1: A man arrested on charge of rape has committed suicide in the custody of Metropolitan Police Circle in Satdobato on Wednesday morning.

LALITPUR, July 1: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Thakur Gyawali said that the country had witnessed a sharp decline in the criminal activities as a result of high surveillance of police.

CHITWAN, July 1: Chitwan district has reported 25 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday. The newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients include 19 males and six other females, according to Bharatpur Hospital.

KATHMANDU, June 31: Just when the daylight was fading into dusk on Monday, Sudan Gurung was rushed to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. On a hunger strike for four consecutive days, without ingesting food or water, his body had become weak and it eventually flaked out. However, despite physical complications, giving up on the motive behind the strike wasn’t an option for Gurung – he stood firm and determined and continued with his hunger strike even when he was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital.

POKHARA, June 30: A total of 86 Nepalis who returned recently from different countries have quarantined themselves in different hotels in Pokhara. They chose to stay in hotels instead of the government-run quarantine centers for better services. However, those unwilling or unable to bear such expenses have been staying at the 11 quarantines managed by Pokhara Metropolis. According to the Paschimanchal Hotel Association, these 86 people came from 12 different countries,  including the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, Korea, Australia, Qatar, Malaysia and India.

Kathmandu Valley sees 12 new COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU, June 30: Twelve new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
