Rape-accused commits suicide in police custody

LALITPUR, July 1: A man arrested on charge of rape has committed suicide in the custody of Metropolitan Police Circle in Satdobato on Wednesday morning.

Durgesh Yadav, 24, from Aurahi Rural Municipality-3 in Siraha district was found hanging in the bathroom of police custody. Yadav was arrested from Gwarko on June 28 after a rape allegations complaint was lodged against him.

According to spokesperson at Metropolitan Police Range Office, Lalitpur, Superintendent of Police Tul Bhadur Karki, the arrested Yadav was then kept in a quarantine facility in the police custody after his arrest.

The Metropolitan Police Circle Office in Satodobato was probing into the case filed against him.
