Kumari Bank has appointed Jenny Khadka and Sangita Magar as marketing managers in one of its branch offices in Kathmandu. Bindabasini Kansakar has been appointed in the same position in one of its branches in Hetauda.

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Dr Sanjeev Uprety, writer and former professor of English, was overjoyed when he was told over the phone last week that he had won the prestigious ‘Padma Shree Sahitya Purashkar’ for his latest novel 'Hansa'. This was his first-ever award. But then he came to know that Modanath Prashit, who has been portrayed as a brutal rapist in an autobiography 'Dharatal' by Sharada Bhushal, was going to join him on stage to receive the 'Padma Shree Shadana Award'.

Nepal recorded 10 more fatalities linked with novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has jumped to 477--which is 0.65 percent of total coronavirus infections.  According to the data maintained by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the Kathmandu district recorded three COVID-19 related deaths, followed by Lalitpur and Bardiya with two deaths each. Likewise, Bara, Rupandehi and Achham districts also recorded one COVID-19 related death each. As of Sunday afternoon, as many as 33 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment on ventilators and 225 are in intensive care units of various hospitals across the country.

BAJHANG, Sept 27: Samjhana BK was a charming girl. Twelve years old BK was a sixth grader at Mashta Basic School, a public school in Mashta Rural Municipality-2, a remote village in Bajhang. But as the pandemic forced schools across the country to shut down for multiple months, BK was staying home with her grandmother and two sisters. “Because her school was closed and she remained at home for most of the time, Samjhana helped us in household chores.
