Nepse posts solid gains, rises for fifth straight day

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The sole equity market traded flat for the first hour of the trading session on Wednesday. However, a mid-day surge helped the Nepal Stock Exchange (Index) add more than 33 points to reach an intraday high of 1,243.61 points in the afternoon. The index fell slightly towards the session's end but still managed to close fairly higher with a gain of 23.89 points or 1.97 percent at 1,234.13 points.

ILAM, Sept 6: Tea workers of eastern Nepal have launched a protest against tea industries following the latter's reluctance to pay them minimum wage fixed by the government.Though the government has revised the minimum wage twice, industries are still paying farmers as per the earlier wage structure.

Dhalkebar substation comes into operation

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Stocks witnessed a slightly volatile session on Tuesday as the benchmark Nepse index swung between gains and losses. The index, which fell more than 3 points to 1,202.68, in the first half of the day's trading, erased its losses in the mid-afternoon trading to climb to the intraday high of 1,214.20. The index, however, pulled back slightly toward the end to close 3.98 percent higher at 1,210.24 points.
