Khusbu Shah´s body was discovered in Coventry Drive, Dennistoun, at about 1300 BST on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Nepali national, who lived locally, was reported missing last week, BBC reported.
Shah lived in Britain for four years and was recently a student at Glasgow Caledonia University, where she studied accounting part-time.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about Shah´s death to contact them.
Meanwhile, detectives were on Monday trying to piece together the final movements of Khusbu.
Khusbu, who had been missing for five days, was found in undergrowth just yards from her home in Dennistoun.
Police are treating the death as murder and have set up an incident room at London Road police office.
Shah was last seen walking near Coventry Drive at about 9 a.m. last Monday. When she could not be contacted by early evening, her husband reported her missing. Detectives are trying to establish if she was murdered where she was found or if her body was placed there.
Forensic experts sealed off part of the street and searched a railway embankment nearby.
The area where the body was found is still cordoned off and police, who have carried out door-to-door inquiries, are appealing for information.
Det Supt Michael Orr said: "We are working around the clock to establish the circumstances surrounding her death."
