Two die, 250 hurt in quake in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, May 13: Two died and at least 250 people were injured in Bhaktapur district due to the earthquake on Tuesday.

Durga Prasad Bhattarai, 74, of Balkot, Ananta Lingeshwor Municipality, and Shyam Sundar Jayana Shrestha of Bode, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-1 are among the deceased, said Yadav Dhakal, Inspector at Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.

Bhattarai and Shrestha were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Minbhawan, and Gangalal Heart Centre, Bansbari, respectively, after they suffered from heart attack during the quake. They died at the hospitals.

Local administration, in coordination with the locals, has been collecting the details of casualties and the physical damage caused by the earthquake in the district.

Of the 250 people injured in the quake, 214 have returned to their homes while 26 others are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in the capital.

Meanwhile, the Nepalese Army, the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police have been working together to remove the obstacles on the roads in different teams in the district since early morning today, police said. RSS
